
Major Durga Mall was a brave freedom fighter and an officer of the Indian National Army (INA) who sacrificed his life for India’s independence. He belonged to Dehradun (present-day Uttarakhand) and was inspired by the revolutionary call of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to free India from British rule through armed struggle.

Major Durga Mall was executed on 25 August 1944. His martyrdom deeply moved the nation and strengthened public support for the INA and the freedom struggle. The sacrifices of INA soldiers like him played a crucial role in weakening British authority and accelerating India’s independence.
