Brigadier Bhawani Singh was a distinguished Indian Army officer and the last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur. He was born on 22 October 1931 into the royal family of Jaipur and was the adopted son of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. Along with royal responsibilities, he chose to serve the nation through the armed forces, reflecting his deep sense of duty and patriotism.

Brigadier Bhawani Singh was educated in India and abroad and later joined the Indian Army. He was commissioned into the prestigious Brigade of the Guards and had a successful military career. During the 1971 Indo-Pak War, he displayed exceptional courage and leadership. For his bravery and service to the nation, he was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), one of India’s highest peacetime military honors.

After the abolition of princely privileges, Bhawani Singh became the titular Maharaja of Jaipur in 1970. Even without political power, he continued to serve society through cultural, educational, and heritage initiatives. He played an important role in preserving Jaipur’s royal heritage and promoting tourism and social welfare in Rajasthan.

Brigadier Bhawani Singh passed away on 17 April 2018. He is remembered as a unique blend of royalty and soldierly discipline—a man who upheld honor, service, and tradition. His life stands as an example of dedication to both the nation and cultural heritage.
