Venkatraman Ramakrishnan – Born in 1952, at Chidambaram, Tamilnadu. After his schooling at Vadodara & Colleging
at Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara, he moved to USA and obtained Ph.D. in Physics in 1976 at Ohio University. He was awarded Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine in 2007 and Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to him in the year 2009 for his work on atomic structure of 30S subunit of Ribosome and its complexes with Antibiotics.
