Amartya Sen – Born on November 3, 1933 at Shantiniketan, West Bengal. After schooling from Viswa Bharti University, he graduated from Presidency College, Kolkata. He acquired masters & doctorate from Trinity College, Cambridge. He became first Indian to head Oxbridge college. In 1998 Nobel Prize was conferred on him for his work on mathematical Solution to “Arrow’s impossibility theorem”. He was also conferred with India’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna in 1999.
